Workforce Board FAQs

Q:
As a workforce board, there are apprenticeship related metrics for us to meet associated with federal and state expectations. How would our board and local one-stops benefit from a relationship with your organization?
A:

Workforce boards are positioned strategically within a community as a central hub for connecting jobseekers, employers, education partners, and economic development entities in order to provide services for stakeholders. The apprenticeship training model is a tool used primarily by employers to train and attract a skilled workforce. Unlike many workforce boards, education entities, and community organizations, PCG’s Apprenticeship Management Solutions team has the expertise on how to use and pull in the services of stakeholders at various times and degrees to customize training solutions using the apprenticeship system. This flexibility allows us to assist your workforce board in meeting those metrics. Apprenticeship is not a cookie-cutter solution for all employer training needs. It is designed to be flexible to meet their needs. And if your workforce board has the ability to provide flexible services, then it makes it much easier to serve your community. That is how your workforce board can benefit from partnering with PCG’s Apprenticeship Management Solution.

I am an Automotive Dealership Director. I handle the Service, Parts, and Collision Departments at our Dealership. It is always a challenge to recruit new candidates to enter the Automotive Mechanical and Auto Body Technician fields. There is a huge shortage of Automotive Technicians and Auto Body Techs and Painters. We all need to be recruiting 24/7. A few years ago we started an Apprentice Program with Daytona State College with help from Ted Norman. (While he was employed by the state) I was a “fish out of water” dealing with all of the apprentice and grant paperwork and ongoing reporting. I just wanted to do what I do best! So when Ted joined the Public Consulting Group, and he offered their services…. I jumped on it! Ted’s group makes it almost “hands off” for me. We keep in contact during each semester to review progress and for me to let him know of additional apprentices. I couldn’t imagine handling all of our apprentices paperwork and progress and still do my job!

As Vice President of iBuild Central Florida, I have had the privilege of working with Ted Norman, Business and Implementation Manager for PCG, on numerous projects. Ted has consistently over-delivered, bringing unmatched expertise and dedication to every initiative. His deep knowledge and experience in the world of Registered Apprenticeships have been invaluable to our organization. Ted is an outstanding resource, and I highly recommend him and PCG for any specialized support your organization may need. His commitment to excellence truly sets him apart.

Here at The Porch Factory LLC we manufacture and install custom pool enclosures and screen rooms. We have been training our own installers for several years, doing an ok job. In 2023 we realized we needed a more specific program, that we could clearly administer that gave a clear more detailed training process to ensure our new hires received the best training and provided them a path that they (the new hires) could see and follow. We worked with Ted from the Public Consulting Group and they have provided us with a customized system that met our current and future needs. We are currently running the system with 4 in house apprentices and PCG made it possible.
